Reading manager hoping star will sign new deal
Reading boss Brian McDermott has remained hopeful that Jimmy Kebe will sign a new contract with the Championship club.
The Mail international is seen as one of the best wingers outside the Premier League, resulting in the Royals eager for the player to sign a long-term deal.
Following a insightful discussion with the 27-year-old, McDermott has revealed that the player is also keen to stay at the club, even though his contract is set to expire next summer.
“I’ve spoken to Jimmy, he told me he loves Reading and wants to stay,” he said. “I know Jimmy well and I’m sure he would come to see me if that has changed.”
Kebe returned to action in an encouraging performance in the 2-2 draw against Derby in midweek, following an injury that left him being side-lined for a month.
Former Reading striker Shane Long has backed his team to rediscover their winning form following some disappointing results, resulting in the Royals currently sitting in 14th in the Championship.
“I think if they get a run of games like they have been doing and get some wins under their belt like last season, then it could happen for them. It is promising times for Reading, I think.”
