Saturday afternoon is when the action gets underway this weekend and Real Sociedad will hope that their win over Barca can send them on a good run. They head to Celta Vigo this weekend and the home team are desperate for points as they hover just above the bottom three.

It should be a great way to kick-start a bumper couple of days in La Liga.

Then, Levante can move into fifth position and really pile the pressure on those around them if they claim a victory over at home to Real Valladolid.

Levante have lost their last two though, whereas Valladolid have taken six points from six, so come into this one in good form. Also, the visiting side can overhaul their opponents with a win.

Espanyol have moved three points clear of the drop zone with some cracking results over the last few weeks. They head to Real Zaragoza this weekend, who have lost their last three, knowing that they have a good chance to move further away from trouble.

Finally on Saturday, Deportivo La Coruna entertain Valencia in a match between two sides with very different ambitions for the campaign.

Deportivo are now bottom of the table and lost their huge game against Osasuna last time out, whereas Valencia are just outside the top six, but need to bounce back from their 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Real Madrid.

The side in seventh did draw 1-1 with Real in the Copa Del Rey during midweek though, so should have a bit of confidence for this one.

Real are in action on Sunday morning as they take on Getafe at the Bernabeu. Jose Mourinho’s men have the chance to move within four points of Atletico Madrid in second and should be comfortable winners as Getafe haven’t won in six.

Real Vallecano v Real Betis has the makings of being a cracking 90 minutes of action as the team in sixth position host the side occupying a Champions League spot in fourth. Both are in good form, but would have been frustrated not to win their matches last time out and they each need a win to ensure they stay in their respective positions in the league.

Barcelona then host Osasuna and although the league-leaders lost last time out, they should still be comfortable winners here as their opponents sit in the bottom three. Their defeat last time out was a shock, but anything other than a home win would be an even bigger massive surprise.

Athletic Bilbao are on home soil to Atletico Madrid on Saturday evening and the away side need a win to keep within eight points of Barcelona if they their match.

Bilbao have been inconsistent this season, but have the ability to win this one, so Atletico have to be at their attacking best. With these two locking horns, goals are all but guaranteed.

Malaga then travel to Mallorca and the former are challenging for a Champions League spot, whereas the latter look in real trouble in 19th place, so there is a lot at stake in this one.

Monday evening sees the final match in La Liga get underway and it is between Sevilla and Granada.

Sevilla come into this one in poor form and in danger of being dragged into the fight to stay in the league and Granada’s recent results suggest they are good enough to start moving up the table.

It is a tough one to call, but is all set to be another entertaining encounter.

Once again, it should be a superb weekend of action.
