Real Madrid to test Glazer resolve with £40m bid for Manchester United striker

Sources in Spain have claimed that Spanish giants Real Madrid are ready to test Manchester United owners, the Glazer family’s resolve with a stunning £40m bid for United striker Chicharito – full name, Javier Hernández Balcázar.

The sources claim that Real are aware of the debt lingering over the Old Trafford side and that the American family may “pull rank” on a bid that would be close to £33m more than the original £7m paid for the young Mexican after last summers World Finals in South Africa.

Most had not expected Chicharito to have such an impact on the side in his first season, scoring 13 league goals in just under 30 appearances on top of some high quality finishing in the Champions League and Sir Alex Ferguson now feels the 23 year old could form a formidable long term partnership with club team mate Wayne Rooney for years to come.

However Real realise the Glazer family are primarily businessmen and that an offer with such a huge jump in profit may tempt them. Although Sir Alex Ferguson will obviously rebuff any bids for his latest star, Real believe the Glazer’s may entertain bids if the money is upfront instead of instalments over a period of time. The Glazer’s still have debt to pay despite repaying the PIK(Payment In Kind) loans worth £220m in November last year but interest on their current loans are still milking Manchester United a reported £40m every year with the full and final payments to be made by 2016.

Whilst the sale of Chicharito would lessen the burden of the debts on a short term basis, the club will not be prepared to sell one of the best up and coming youngsters however should the Glazer’s step in then there is bound to be strained relations between the board and management team.

Chicharito has himself suggested that he “owes Sir Alex” a great deal for bringing him to Manchester meaning the player himself would be very unlikely to want to move elsewhere at this early stage in his career.

Real Madrid meanwhile have their own agenda and are looking at the next generation of players to build somewhat of a dynasty with current manager Jose Mourinho already stating that the likes of Benzema and Higuain will not be sold adding that they will form the foundations for the club for years to come.

Although a bid for Chicharito is highly unlikely to be accepted it appears that Real will test the water at the beginning of July with an offer of £40m.
