The game of the Spanish weekend is the Madrid derby as Real host the title holders Atletico later this evening.

Mario Mandzukic scored his first league goal in the win and the Croatian international will be key this time around.

Without Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid blew a 2-0 lead in a shock 4-2 loss at Real Sociedad, despite Gareth Bale’s solo effort.

Real are confident their main man will return for the derby, as they look to make up for losing the Copa del Rey to Diego Simeone’s men.

The pair have already met twice this campaign, having faced each other five times last year.

Diego Costa scored the only goal in the league meeting at the Bernabeu, although Real got revenge in the Copa del Rey and Champions League.

Barcelona have made a solid start to life under Luis Enrique, winning both league games without conceding.

This weekend they host Athletic Bilbao, who finished fourth last term and beat Napoli in a recent Champions League qualifier to reach the group stage of the competition.

The hosts are the overwhelming favourites on Saturday; however Bilbao will fancy their chances of earning at least a point.

Two sides yet to win in the league this term kick start the weekend off, as Almeria host newly promoted Cordoba on Friday evening.

Valencia will look to build on a positive start at home to Espanyol on Sunday, however will be without their new forward Alvaro Negredo.

Sevilla, like Valencia, have four points and are unbeaten this campaign, ahead of their home match with Getafe.

Real Sociedad will look to build on their Madrid win, away to Celta Vigo, whilst Villarreal travel to Granada.

Elsewhere the other two promoted sides meet on Monday as tiny Eibar host Deportivo La Coruna, whilst rock bottom Levante host Malaga.
