Of course, many are sure to be backing Real to reach the semi-finals as they do have the stronger squad on paper, but Galatasaray were clever with their signings in the January transfer window and could be a dark horse in the tournament.
Looking at Jose Mourinho’s men to begin with, they knocked out Manchester United in the previous round in controversial circumstances as the Nani was sent off in the second half with his side 2-1 up on aggregate.
Real took full advantage of the extra man and scored two goals in quick succession, which delighted the manager, although he said that United were the better team on the night.
Mourinho is going for his third Champions League title and with this being his third season in charge at the Bernabeu, he knows that he has to deliver the biggest prize that club football has to offer this campaign.
Against Galatasaray, the La Liga champions should progress if they are at their best and a lot of pressure is on Cristiano Ronaldo to come up with something special.
The Portugal international is in scintillating form at the moment though and it is no surprise to see that he is leading the first goal-scorer market at 9/4.
With Barcelona 13 points clear of Real in La Liga, the nine-time European Champions are able to put all their focus into this tournament as they are not going to be retaining their Spanish crown. Real are a 1/5 shot to win on the night.
As for Galatasaray, they know that it doesn’t get much tougher that two legs against Real Madrid, but will be delighted that they have made it to this stage of the competition.
Although they are the big 19/1 outsiders to take the spoils on the night, the Turkish outfit have to come here in good spirits and look to play their natural game.
As mentioned, they did some smart business in the January window, adding Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder to the squad – two men that have a lot of experience in the Champions League and know how to handle the pressure in these big matches.
If Sneijder gets himself on the ball on Tuesday, he can cause his former club and manager a lot of problems here and he is good value to score at anytime as he can be backed at 15/2.
If Galatasaray can remain in the tie and give themselves something to work with on home soil – where they fancy their chances against anybody – then they might have a chance of reaching the semi-finals, but a massive performance is needed here.
You can expect an electric atmosphere inside the Bernabeu for this one and if we get an early goal, it is sure to be a fascinating 90 minutes of action from 7.45pm.
