Real Zaragoza Vallecano Odds: Zaragoza desperate for win

Bottom of the table Real Zaragoza will be desperate for three points when they host 14th placed Rayo Vallecano on Sunday evening.

Zaragoza have had a miserable season so far, winning just twice all season and not since a 2-0 victory over Real Sociedad back on the 16th October last year.

Things are getting rather desperate too. They are a significant nine points adrift of safety going into this weekend’s fixtures and quite simply, they need to turn their form around as soon as possible.

If they are to do this, they have to find themselves a spark in front of goal. With only four goals in their last 11 games across all competitions, you can see why they are rock bottom of the table.

Regardless of these statistics, this has to be a game the home side see as winnable. Their victories are more likely to come at home and Vallecano have had their own problems lately.

Jose Ramon Sandoval’s side have lost their last two games in La Liga, both of which were on home soil to make them even more frustrating. This did follow a winning streak of three games though, so they will hope to get back to this type of form on Sunday.

They are capable of winning on the road too with three away victories so far this season, most recently at 16th placed Granada in a similar test to which they will face this weekend.

Looking at the history between these two teams, they played out a 0-0 draw back in September and Sunday’s encounter could be a similarly tight affair. Neither team can afford to lose and this could be apparent in their respective approaches to the game.

It is the home side that will need to show some intent as the game goes on though. They need victories if they are to remain a La Liga side and they need them now.

There is plenty to play for in this one and it should be an entertaining contest from 6.45pm on Sunday evening.
