Tottenham manager, Harry Redknapp, has confirmed that his club are currently engaged in talks with Machester City striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, and his representatives.
Adebayor spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Madrid, where he enjoyed moderate success, before returning to Manchester where he has, on occasion, been training with the club’s reserves.
Tottenham have just freed up a little funds from the sale of Robbie Keane to LA Galaxy, which they will try and put towards a new forward.
Beteen them, Keane, Roman Pavlyuchenko, Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe only managed 18 Premier League goals last campaign.
Any deal for the Togo international is understood to be strictly a loan deal, according to Redknapp.
The Spurs gaffer commented on the deal, noting: “The chairman is talking to Man City about the player but where they (the negotiations) are at, I genuinely don’t know.”
The 27 year-old is currently on £170,00-a-week wages, which are proving an obstacle for Tottenham.
Adebayor began his Premier League career with Spurs’ rivals, Arsenal, and would be certain to make a rambunctious return to the Emirates Stadium if he chose to move to White Hart Lane.
