Riise anxious for Anfield return

Former Liverpool left-back, John Arne-Riise, says he’s looking forward to going back to Anfield, after he returned to English football with Fulham.

The Norwegian was a fan-favourite during his time at Liverpool, and the 31 year-old is anxious about his return to Merseyside, hoping he receives a positive reception from the crowd he used to play in front of weekly.

Riise commented: “I spent seven years at Liverpool so it is going to be strange to play against them but I look forward to going back to Anfield,”

“But I am a Fulham player now and I am going to do my best and try to score some goals for my team,” the full-back added.

New Fulham manager, Martin Jol, signed the Norwegian from Roma this summer and says he is glad to be back in England, noting: “I’ve been quite lucky to play in France, England and Italy now so I am enjoying it, but England is my type of football.”

Fulham travel to Anfield on April 14, 2012.
