Rio Ferdinand has made his feelings clear regarding the “weakened team” ruling that can see clubs fined and even points docked.
His comments, which appeared on twitter, come ahead of Manchester United’s final game of the season against Blackpool where it is likely that Sir Alex Ferguson will shuffle his players with one eye on the Champions league final at the end of the month.
Ferdinand wrote:
“Why have a 25-man squad if you’re hammered for utilising it? Don’t make sense… when we changed eight or nine players earlier in the season (and won) I didn’t hear the call for docking points.”
Adding:
“Who was moaning when we changed all of our team versus Schalke in the semi-final (and won)? What is the point of having a deep squad if it is wrong to use them all?”
Ferdinand is not the first to voice his disapproval on what seems a mightily silly rule which suggests the FA can claim which side their strongest eleven and which side has weaknesses.
Many players and managers should follow Ferdinand’s view to seek an abolition of this rule they use called E20.
