Robbie Keane likely to be fit for Republic of Ireland training camp

Robbie Keane is likely to be available for training for the Republic of Ireland next week.

The veteran has been suffering from a number of injury niggles in recent weeks.

After suffering a hamstring injury playing in the MLS for LA Galaxy, Keane was a doubt to start training for Giovanni Trapattoni’s side in the coming days.

Keane has since received a scan, which has revealed the former Tottenham striker has not suffered a tear and will be fit to play for Ireland in their upcoming friendlies and their Euro 2012 campaign.

A spokesman for the Football Association of Ireland has said: “Robbie Keane’s scan result came through today and showed all clear with no sign of any tear or blood.

“He will be assessed when he comes in and should be fine.”
