Want-away Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez has been permanently removed from his role as captain of the club by manager Roberto Mancini.
The Argentine maestro, who had spent much of the summer trying to orchestrate a move away from Eastlands, will be replaced by fans favourite Vincent Kompany.
“Carlos wanted to leave for family reasons. I respected his opinion but Carlos is still here because we didn’t find a solution.”
Mancini continued:
“I decided in the summer that Vinnie (Kompany) was the captain.”
The Manchester City manager added:
“He’s a fantastic player for us, someone who can score 20 goals a season.”
Belgian international Kompany has captained City in their first three games this season and both he and Mancini will hope that the team’s winning start continues as City chase down the so far elusive first Premiership title.
