Rodgers hoping to beat Premier League teams to Pavone signature

Newly-promoted Premier League side Swansea City have been told that if they hope to sign free agent, Mariano Pavone, they will need to move swiftly.

Liverpool and Fulham are also reportedly interested in the Argentine after Blackburn failed to finalise a deal last week.

Swansea manager, Brendan Rodgers, has held talks with Pavone’s representatives but the South American’s agent, Barry McIntosh, has advised Swansea ‘not to take their time’.

Mcintosh stated that: “If it was just about money, he would not go to Swansea. But I’m a believer that there is more to football than just money. If the difference is only 10p elsewhere then the player will go to Swansea,”

The striker’s agent also complimented the diversity of the club adding: “They have Spanish players at the club, they have a British manager who speaks Spanish and has made a real effort.”

Swansea City have been training in Portugal and face Celtic in a pre-season friendly on August 3.
