Chievo will have hosted Napoli and with Napoli having already swept Bologna aside on the opening day of the season it’s hard to see beyond a win for the visitors.
Juventus and Lazio should be a tighter affair and Lazio will be buoyed by their victory over Udinese and hopeful of a point at the home of the Champions.
On Sunday in the early kick off, Roma will host Verona.
Roma won 2-0 away to Livorno last weekend and will be hopeful of maintaining a 100% record but will have their work cut out against a Verona team that defeated AC Milan last Saturday in a 1-0 victory. Roma will be favourites for the game at the Stadio Olimpico.
However the home side will have to adapt to life without Erik Lamela, the 21-year-old Argentinian striker joining Tottenham Hotspur in a €30million deal this week.
Luca Toni will be the man for Roma to watch out for with the 36-year-old scoring both goals in the Milan victory.
After a home win last weekend over Atalanta, Cagliari will travel to Milan with confidence. Massimiliano Allegri will be hoping his side can bounce back quickly from the pre-mentioned defeat to Verona.
However it hasn’t been all bad news for AC Milan this week with the club qualifying for the Group stages of the Champions League thanks to a 4-1 aggregate victory over PSV Eindhoven.
And Allegri was particularly happy with the performance of Mario Balotelli. saying: “Balotelli played a great game. He has taken on a lot of responsibility. He’s a real professional. We drew the toughest team out of the draw and the players have done really well and they deserve the win.”
The excitement though doesn’t end there. There is the meeting of Florentina away to Genoa. The home side will be hoping to bounce back quickly from the opening day defeat to Inter Milan, whilst the visitors will be hoping to build on the home victory over Catania.
Bologna host Sampdoria, with both sides pointless after both teams lost their opening day fixtures. Sassuolo host Livorno in an exact replica with both these sides both conceding twice last weekend and failing to score.
Udinese lost their maiden game of the season away to Lazio, so Francesco Guidolin’s side will be hoping for an immediate reaction when they welcome Parma to the Stadio Friuli.
Atalanta and Torino meet in Bergamo. Atalanta will be dissapointed after their opening day defeat to Cagliari while Torino will be hoping to build on the 2-0 victory over Sassuolo.
The final game of the weekend sees Catania welcome Inter Milan to Stadio Angelo Massimino. Rolando Marano will be hoping to at least consolidate if not build on last seasons 8th place finish.
Inter Milan, who finished a place behind this weekends oppenents, will be focused though on building on the opening day victory over Genoa.
