Rovers Boss Accepts Concern

Blackburn Rovers Manager Steve Kean has admitted he is under pressure following successive defeats in both of their opening Premier League fixtures.

Rovers suffered a home defeat to Wolves last weekend, which was followed by a 3-1 loss to Aston Villa on Saturday.
Kean, who is the bookie’s favourite to be the first manager to be sacked this season, has pointed at the club’s injury list but has revealed that the club does desire to strengthen.

“I can understand why they might be concerned but I would say to them that we’re just trying to get as many bodies back fit as we can and get some fresh faces into the squad,” Kean said.
“We’ve got a very good spirit here, which we showed last season, and once we assemble a full squad we’ll be fine.”

New signing David Goodwillie made his first start for Rovers and Kean believes the Scottish forward’s performance was a silver lining in the defeat.

“I thought he was lively, we wanted to keep him on for the full game because it’s going to take him time to blend in with the way we play and understand his team-mates,” he said.
“For his first full game I thought he did very well.”
