Rovers join the race to sign Preston’s Adam Barton

Blackburn Rovers have joined Tony Pulis’ Stoke in the fight for the signature of Adam Barton.

The 20 year-old was one of Preston North End’s talisman’s last season, despite the club’s relegation from the Championship. Potters boss Pulis had turned out several times to watch the youngster last season, and was regarded as favourite to gain his signature.

Preston face a predicament in holding on to their star players this summer following their relegation, and the likes of Rovers and Stoke look set to pounce.

Steve Kean could hold an advantage over his Stoke City counterpart, as the central midfielder is originally from Blackburn and may favour a swift homecoming.
