As we have seen so many times in recent months, Russian Premier League side, Anzhi Makhachkala, are being linked with another top European talent, this time arriving in the form of troubled Arsenal striker, Robin van Persie.
The Dutchman has become a focal point in the last few weeks after it emerged that he was refusing to enter contract talks with his current club, fuelling speculation that the forward could be seeking a move away.
It’s no secret that the Gunners have run across hard times of late after losing talismanic midfielders Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri over the summer.
If those departures weren’t bad enough, the club now face losing their star striker, who is just about the only player putting the ball in the back of the net for the North London outfit this season.
Anzhi, funded by billionaire tycoon Suleyman Kerimov, already made headlines earlier this year when they made Samuel Eto’o the highest player in the world by upping his wages to over £300,000-a-week.
That being said, the side are proving the old saying true that money truly can’t buy you happiness; at least not straight after you spend a heap of it.
As a result, the 28 year-old is being sought after to help in their efforts in front of goal as the striker enjoys good form in the Premier League.
It doesn’t help that Anzhi Makhachkala are being associated with a move for just about every high quality player living, however one would have to argue that with the Dutch forward’s current contract predicament, if the right offer were to come in, it wouldn’t be a surprise if it was considered.
