Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg have denied that they have made an offer for Arsenal forward Andrey Arshavin but claim that he will always be of interest to the club.
Arshavin has find life tough at Arsenal of late failing to land a permanent place in Wenger’s starting lineup and speculation persists that he is looking for a move away to give him a better chance of making the international side for the Euro 2012 tournament to be held in Ukraine and Poland next year.
Zenit director Igor Korneyev did not hide the fact that the Arsenal player was of interest but also suggested that no offer has, or has not been made.
“We are always interested in Arshavin, but I can neither confirm nor deny whether we have made an offer.”
Meanwhile the clubs sponsors, Gazprom, who are in charge of transfers into the club were quoted as saying.
“The player’s return is possible if he decides on it, we all have to return to our homelands sooner or later.”
