Sources are suggesting that current goings-on around Old Trafford are pointing in the direction of a major signing, with many seeing the man in question as long-term club target, Jack Rodwell.
Predictions are indicating that the space made available by the departure of Darron Gibson, as well a the supposed departures of Paul Pogba, Ravel Morrison and to a lesser extent, Dimitar Berbatov, all suggest that Rodwell’s move is imminent.
All of the aforementioned players – apart from Berbatov – play in a central midfield position for the Red Devils and would certainly make way for the Everton youngster, who has been on the radar of Sir Alex Ferguson for at least the last three years.
However, Berbatov is being linked with moves left right and centre, including speculation that would involve the Bulgarian returning to former club Bayer Leverkusen, and any funds raised from his sale could go straight towards purchasing the young England international.
Manchester United currently have great need for a creative influx and while Pogba and Morrison are both great prospects, they wouldn’t have nearly as much impact on the immediate future of the club as Jack Rodwell.
It’s known that Ferguson doesn’t play up to the demands of his young players and after some of the finer details of the pair’s contract negotiations became public knowledge, it seems this could be the main reason for the duo’s supposed departures from the club.
David Moyes has gone to great lengths in order to hang on to his starlet in recent seasons but it seems his resistance could finally break down as he is forced to give in to a £20m+ offer for his services, that would see him switch allegiances to Old Trafford before the month is out.
