Swiss international, Phillippe Senderos, claims he is well aware of the level of competition he will be facing for a starting place in Fulham’s starting XI in the coming season.
The defender had a fine performance in Fulham’s 4-0 victory over Crusaders in last weeks Europa League qualifier, and is keen to continue demonstrating such form.
Senderos told Fulham’s official website: “I’m ready to fight for my place. We’ve got great quality in the squad, good competition as well. That’s very important, we’re going to have plenty of games for everyone to shine.”
Senderos has made only three appearances for Fulham since joining in 2010 due to injury, but has impressed with the games he has played in, and is enjoying life under Martin Jol, adding:
“The new manager has tried to keep the same things, not change everything but obviously we try to play offensive football and I think we’re creating chances and it’s working quite well.”
The 26 year-old also spoke of Fulham’s Europa League campaign, stating:
“It makes the squad closer, it gives an opportunity for the young players to play in a European competition, it’s not something given to everyone –it’s a great opportunity for these boys and for us to start the competitive games early. It gives us a little edge maybe for the start of the season.”
Fulham kick off their Premier League campaign against Aston Villa on August 13.
