After the shock of Juventus losing their first game of the season last weekend – they were beaten at home by Inter Milan – everyone is looking forward to another action packed two days of Serie A football this weekend.

It is a mid-table clash that gets things underway as Cagliari in 12th are at home to Catania. The away side may well be up in 7th position, but they are only a point above their hosts and this should be a very competitive contest.

Juventus are then in action for the second and final game on Saturday as they travel to Pescara. Fresh from last weekend’s defeat, they will want an immediate response. A convincing 4-0 Champions League victory against Nordsjaelland midweek will have given them an immediate confidence boost, as the Bianconeri still sit top of the table.

Three points at 14th placed Pescara will get them back on track as the side awaits the return of manager Antonio Conte, who return s next month after a four month ban for match fixing.

Moving onto Sunday, there are eight games to keep us entertained. The pick of the day’s action is without doubt Lazio v Roma. These two famous Italian clubs go head to head in what should be an intense battle.

Looking at their respective form going into this one, Lazio are without a win in three after the surprise 4-0 defeat to Catania. As for Roma, they got back to winning ways last time out after two successive defeats.

These two have definitely had mixed starts to the new season, but sitting in 5th and 6th respectively means they are eyeing European football this season. Both will be after the points on Sunday and adopt a positive approach, as Lazio manager Vladimir Petkovic experiences his first Rome derby.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Palermo are at home to Sampdoria, Genoa and Napoli go head to head, Udinese travel to Chievo, Parma host Siena, while Torino and Bologna – both of whom are struggling for form – do battle for a crucial three points.

There are then two more games to focus on. First of all, AC Milan – who are a massive 14 points adrift of top spot at the moment – host the in-form Fiorentina.

Prior to the season, this would have been seen as a home banker, but anything could happen at the San Siro, as new manger Vincenzo Montella has made a huge difference to the Tuscany based side, who will be without Stevan Jovetic who is struggling with injury.

Completing the Serie A weekend on Sunday evening, Inter Milan are aiming to follow up their victory at Juventus when they travel to Atalanta. If Juventus drop points on Saturday, Andrea Stramaccioni’s men could go top if they record their 10th win in succession across all competitions.
