Sevilla have ruled out making a move for Tottenham’s Giovani dos Santos after the North London club reportedly demanded £9.6 million for the out-of-favour winger.
The Brazilian has featured sporadically in the Premier League this season with most of his action coming in the Carling Cup and Europa League.
22-year-old Dos Santos has suffered a torrid time at White Hart Lane since moving from Barcelona 2008 struggling to adapt to English football spending time out on loan at Ipswich Town, Galatasaray and Racing Santander.
A move to Wigan has been touted whilst Sevilla have also been credited with Sevilla president, Jose Maria Del Nido confirming their interest in bringing him back to La Liga but not at Spurs’ valuation.
He said: “At this moment, the club does not have the money asked for by Tottenham.
“The decision is clear. Giovani is not valued at €11m, as is demanded by the English. I view the deal as impossible.”
Sevilla claim to have offered €4.5m (£4m) plus €500,000 (£435,430) in add-ons and have described that as a “good” bid.
Dos Santos’ contract runs out in 15 months time but Spurs valuation looks likely to keep him at the club despite him not being in manager Harry Redknapp’s plans.
