Sevilla Villarreal Odds: Jose Antonio Reyes still awaiting first win

Two teams performing below expectations at the moment meet in La Liga on Sunday afternoon as mid-table Sevilla play host to relegation threatened Villarreal at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

After finishing 5th last season, there is no doubt that Sevilla would have been targeting a similar season this time around. Instead, they find themselves 11th after a run of six games without a win.

They are only five points away from the top five though, so they will be hoping that an improved run of form is around the corner. It certainly needs to be, because if the current run continues, they will be well established in the lower regions of the table.

As for Villarreal, well they have an even more dramatic fall from grace. They achieved a fourth place finish last season, qualifying for the Champions League in the process.

This season, they are 18th in the table after 20 games with just four victories to their name in the league. They have also lost seven of their 10 matches away from home, winning none, so they will have to improve on this if they are to get something on Sunday.

It’s not as if Villarreal are showing any signs of getting out of trouble either. Across all competitions, they have won just once since the 19th November last year.

They therefore have their work cut out if they are to get something at this weekend. Especially when you consider that they have lost all but one of their top-flight games at Sevilla.

Villarreal are also the lowest scoring team on the road in La Liga this season.

The home side are therefore expected to get the job done, but as mentioned, they have had their struggles too. For example, eight of their 20 games so far have ended all square so they perhaps have a problem finishing teams off.

All things considered, it should be a fascinating match from 5pm on Sunday afternoon.
