Shaqiri blasts Manchester United arrogance

Former Manchester United target, Xherdan Shaqiri, has come out slamming the English club for their lack of concentration in this season’s Champions League.

The Basel winger played a major hand in the Swiss club’s success this campaign which includes having a big help in knocking the Red Devils out of Europe’s most prestigious tournament.

Wednesday night saw Bayern Munich slip to a 1-0 defeat against Basel; an interesting result considering that Shaqiri has already agreed a deal to move to the Bundesliga outfit at the end of this season.

The 20 year-old was being associated with a move to Old Trafford over the past two seasons but after showing where his future will lie, the pint-sized maestro has revealed his true feelings towards United.

After the win over Bayern, Shaqiri stated: “United underestimated us. You could feel it in the tunnel and even in the warm-up,” the 20-year-old, who will join Bayern in the summer, said. They weren’t fully focused and I’m not sure a United player made one sprint.”

He went on to reveal further dislike for their attitude in the encounter, adding: “Afterwards, you couldn’t even swap shirts – they were gone that quickly.”

The Swiss international may be set to sign for the German club before the beginning of next season but Shaqiri will be expected to put future allegiances to one side when the two sides clash once again in March and do his best to knock Bayern Munich out of the competition.
