Silva praises Mancini impact

David Silva has praised manager Roberto Mancini and his coaching staff insisting they should take all the credit for Manchester City’s blistering start to the season.

The 25-year-old playmaker has been in sparkling form for the Citizens playing a key role in their rise to the Premier League summit and displaying the talent that prompted the club to spend big on him in 2010.

Mancini was full of praise for the Spaniard after his recent star display in the Euro 2012 qualifier against Scotland declaring he is on the same level as the worlds best players.

Despite being flattered by managers comments Silva insist the the praise should be focused on the Italian and his back room staff declaring their hard work as an important factor in his adaption to the English game.

“I am very grateful for the comments he has made” He said.

“But first and foremost I am even more grateful for the faith he has shown in me since I signed for the club.

“It is always very difficult when you are changing countries, changing leagues, changing style of football.

“But now I am in my second season here I feel more settled than ever and I am very happy both on and off the field.

“That is thanks to the man sat next to me (Mancini), his backroom staff and my team-mates.

“Because I am happy off the field I am showing good form on it now.”

Silva will be hoping to maintain his impressive performances in the Champions League this week with Villarreal making the trip to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.
