Sneijder urges De Jong to quit Man City to join Inter

Wesley Sneijder has told Nigel De Jong he must leave Manchester City and join him at Inter Milan this summer the Metro report.

De Jong is currently contemplating his future at the Etihad Stadium and despite Premier League winners medal last term he is considering a change of scenery after struggling to hang onto his first team spot.

The form of Gareth Barry and Yaya Toure forced he 27-year-old to the substitute bench for much of the campaign and Roberto Mancini is said to be open to cashing in on the tenacious midfielder.

Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich and Roma have all been tentatively linked but Sneijder has called on his Holland international teammate to join him at the San Siro.

“Inter must sign De Jong,” he told the Italian media.

“He’s football mad! I know him well and he would be fit in here.”

Inter are ready to sign De Jong on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move with Mancini is keen to let him leave as he views it as another step on the road to meeting the demands oUEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.

The City chief reopened his feud with sporting director Brian Marwood once again expressing his frustrations at the lack of new arrivals as he prepares his squad for the title defence.

Marwood has been tasked shifting the clubs high earners, such as Emmanuel Adebayor, to reduce a hefty wage bill that is preventing an irate Mancini from making any additions.

“I am not happy,” he said.”But I won’t say anything at the moment.

“For this you should talk to Brian Marwood, not me. I am not the sporting director. I can’t say anything about the players.

“After three months or four months I don’t know what to say about this situation.”
