Sochaux Star attracting Arsenal interest

Samir Nasri’s ongoing contract talks have pushed Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, to look to possible replacements for the France midfielder, should he end up leaving. One such alternative could be emerging Sochaux talent, Marvin Martin. Nasri has put several top European clubs on high alert as the player stalls over his contract. Another reason Martin could end up at the Emirates would be if captain Casc Fabregas completes a dream move to Barcelons this summer. However, the latter seems less and less likely as Arsenal refuse to negotiate his £50m price-tag.

Marvin Martin has performed superbly for the Montbéliard outfit this season, accruing three goals and his real highlight of 19 assists in 36 games. Such great playmaking attributes have caused several French critics to draw comparisons between himself and French legend, Zinedine Zidane. One such person is France manager Laurent Blanc, who agreed with the similarities in playing style, after French newspaper, L’Equipe, made the comparison.

If either Nasri or Fabregas do agree to a summer switch in teams, it’s believed Arsene Wenger won’t be selling to any teams in the Premier League. This is sure to upset both Manchester City and champions Manchester United, who were both said to be out for his signature.

Arsenal aren’t the only team in the running to sign the Sochaux starlet, who made his international debut this year against Ukraine. Inter Milan are thought to be preparing for the departure of Wesley Sneijder, and are keeping a firm eye on Martin. Sneijder has been associated with a number of top European teams, with Chelsea and Manchester United appearing as current favourites to win the chase. Martin is far from over the hedge at 22 years-old and is thought to be available for around £11m.
