Novak Djokovic has of course been eliminated from the tournament, so Andy Murray is the man many are sure to be backing to win this Sony Open and he takes on Richard Gasquet this evening.

Murray breezed past Marin Cilic in the quarter-finals, winning 6-4 6-3, and he will be confident of heading to the final and lifting the trophy in America.

The British number-one looks to be on top of his game at the moment and although Gasquet is a top player, he doesn’t have the same quality as the Scotsman.

He is the big favourite for this clash at 2/7 and as ever in these best of three matches, the first set is key. If Murray wins it, it is going to be tough for the Frenchman to turn the tie around.

Gasquet has to come into this one and play in the same way he has throughout the tournament. The man from France beat Tomas Berdych 6-3 6-3 in the previous round, so he is certainly playing some good tennis and could cause the favourite a few problems here.

You can back a win for the world number-ten at 16/5, which is decent value.

When it comes to the head-to-head record between these two, there isn’t much between them as Murray has won on four occasions and Gasquet three.

They haven’t met on a hard court since 2009 though and it is worth noting that the Frenchman has won all three previous meetings on this surface, something that might play on Murray’s mind.

Prior to this encounter, David Ferrer and Tommy Haas lock horns in what is set to be another excellent match.

Ferrer was expected to get to this stage as he is the number-three seed, but Haas has surprised a few as he was seeded 15 for the Sony Open.

The Spaniard is of course the favourite for this one at 8/15, but he did need all three sets to be Jurgen Melzer in the previous round, so might be a little bit fatigued coming into this one.

Ferrer lost the first set in that match and it seemed to be the wake-up call that he needed as he won the next two 6-3 6-0.

As for Haas, he was a 6-3 6-1 winner of Gilles Simon in the round of eight and showed that he is ready to challenge for this title.

The 34-year-old is certainly coming into his final years as a player, but he hasn’t shown any signs of tiredness creeping in just yet. What he does need here is a flying start to keep his adrenaline high and you never know, the German could upset the odds once more.

He is currently a 20/11 shot for this one.

We should be in for a superb two matches from Miami on this Good Friday that is full of sport.
