Spanish veteran rules out move to Blackburn

FC Schalke forward, Raul, has dashed all hopes Blackburn had of signing the former Real Madrid striker, ruling out a move to the Premier League side.

The Daily Star reported the striker as saying: “I don’t want to move to Ewood Park,” effectively ending the transfer chase.

Rovers had been linked with a shock move for the 34 year-old for a large portion of the summer, hoping to bring an experienced mind to the squad.

The Spaniard has apparently fallen out with some of the upper echelon at Schalke, and with a year to run on his contract, is reported to be looking for a move away.

FC Shalke general manager, Horst Heldt, was reported as commenting: “He asked us to reject Blackburn. We have already done so. As it stands now he will remain with us.”
