Spanish winger makes Premier League move

Wigan Athletic have completed the signing of Albert Crusat from Spanish club Almeria for an undisclosed fee.

Boss Roberto Martinez confirmed that he was eager to add to his squad before the transfer window. The Latics lost their star man from last season, Charles N’Zogbia to Aston Villa earlier this summer and saw their main target Vladimir Weiss join Espanyol, however turned their attention to Crusat.

The Barcelona-born winger underwent a medical at the DW Stadium on Monday and completed the move on Tuesday, signing a two-year contract with the option for a third year if he is a success.

“Albert is someone we have been trailing for a long time and it is fantastic news that we have managed to get him,” said Martinez.

“He will add something completely new to the squad, he has electric speed, really quick feet and has played over 150 games in La Liga.
“He is an explosive player, who understands how to affect games with his attributes, having earned his long experience in such a competitive, tactical and demanding league as La Liga.

“I am confident he can adapt quickly to the demands of the Barclays Premier League.

“I think our fans will take to him because he is a really exciting player who can bring a crowd to their feet.”
