Tottenham have entered talks with Lokomotiv Moscow concerning a January transfer for Roman Pavlyuchenko.
Reports are claiming that the Russian capital side have offered somewhere in the region of £8m for the forward.
The deal could also mean that Spurs force through a move for Everton’s Louis Saha, who has emerged as a shock target for the North London outfit.
Earlier reports claimed that Tottenham were keen to sign the Frenchman but that the deal would hinge on the club’s ability to shift some excess baggage first.
The £8m gained from Pavlyuchenko’s sale would supposedly go straight back into a deadline day deal after Harry Redknapp hinted last month that the club would make a ‘major signing’ in January.
As it goes, the club are yet to bring in any substantial purchases this month but have instead concentrated on freeing up funds and wages for what is anticipated to be a big money transfer.
Pavlyuchenko has scored 42 goals in 114 appearances for Spurs and has been speculated to be leaving White Hart Lane for some time now.
