Stoke ready to hijack QPR bid for striker

It is understood that Stoke City have joined the race to sign Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy.

The Potters have already agreed a fee for Birmingham striker Cameron Jerome, however boss Tony Pulis is keen to bolster their forward line ahead of the transfer deadline.

The Welsh international is looking for a new club, as City boss Roberto Mancini has told him that he does not feature in any of the Italian’s future plans.

Bellamy, who spent the whole of last season in the Championship with his home side Cardiff City, was believed to be in talks with Queens Park Rangers, whilst his former employers Liverpool were also rumoured to be interested in the 32-year-old.

The Anfield giants have emerged as favourites to secure the player’s signature, but Pulis has now entered the running for Bellamy and will attempt to snatch the striker from under the noses of his Premier League rivals.
