Stoke Target Set to Stay

West Ham striker Carlton Cole has revealed that he rejected a move to Stoke earlier this summer due to family reason. The Hammers originally accepted a bid in the region of £6million in July; however Cole could not agree personal terms.
The 27-year-old is happy to stay in London and has ruled out a move up north, as he feels it will never be a feasible option for him or his family.

“I know a fee got accepted,” he told the Daily Mirror. “The position West Ham are in means I’m one of the saleable assets and they had to accept.

“But it was down to me and I didn’t really want to move. It wasn’t best for me and my family to go up north.”

The former Chelsea player has started the new campaign well with two goals in four appearances; however the arrival of John Carew has given Cole strong competition.

The seven capped England international revealed that should another offer come in, he would consider it but has reiterated that he is happy at Upton Park.
He added: “I’ll think about what’s on offer but I’m scoring goals and I’m happy where I am.”
