Striking talisman keen to stay at the Hawthorns

West Brom striker, Peter Odemwingie, has stated his intentions to stay on with the Baggies, and unveiled exactly why contract negotiations are taking so long.

The Nigerian international has a year left to run on his current contract at the Hawthorns, after scoring 15 goals in his debut season last term.

The 30 year-old has been linked with a move away from the club, with Albion already rejecting a £4m offer from Wigan Athletic.

Despite voicing his commitment to the club, Odemwingie has openly stated that if a top six club came seeking his services, he would have to consider a transfer.

The forward wrote on his Twitter page: “To my dear WBA supporters . I love this club and will leave only to a TOP team which is understandable. Nothing abnormal is going.”

He went on to say: “Contract is not signed (sic) cos of the duration of it. Figures agreed long time ago cos I know this is not Real Madrid Please be patient.”
