Sunderland boss claims criticism is unjust

Sunderland manager, Steve Bruce, has said that the rumours regarding his job being under scrutiny are unfair.

The Black Cats got off to a poor start to the season, winning their first game of the campaign last Sunday as they romped to a 4-0 victory over Stoke City, and Bruce believes this result will kickstart their performances.

The Wearside manager commented: “Anybody who’s managed at this level will know that it engulfs you very, very quickly, and here in the north east it does engulf you quicker than anywhere.”

The former Manchester United star remains hopeful of holding down his position at the Stadium of Light, adding: “The most important for me is to get over it and learn from it, about how quickly things do change up here. But certainly, it’s not going to derail me in my thoughts of exactly what we’re trying to achieve.”
