Sunderland FC and Everton favourites to land Manchester United midfielder

Manchester United's Darron Gibson may be on his way out of Old Trafford this summerReports from Manchester have claimed that current league leaders Manchester United are to offload midfielder Darron Gibson in the summer with Sunderland FC and Everton apparently interested.

The 23 year old has not had the best of seasons, when compared to last year, better things were expected from the Republic of Ireland international but he has failed to make his mark thus far leading Sir Alex Ferguson and the United staff to believe it is time for him to depart Old Trafford.

With Sunderland manager Steve Bruce being one of Ferguson’s previous trenchmen it could be argued that Sunderland are favourites to land Gibson however should Manchester United really be keen on the services of Jack Rodwell then Gibson could be used as part of an exchange deal.

Darron Gibson has played a bit part in this latest campaign but has not done spectacularly well when called upon with the majority of his “special long range shots” going askew. Gibson’s current contract expires in 2012 so United may feel it is the right time to cash in on the midfielder.
