Sources in France have revealed that Sunderland FC are looking into the acquisition of Panamanian goalkeeping youngster Luis Mejia.
The 20 year old has played for his country at every level and now has four international caps. Playing for your country at that age does get a player noticed and with Sunderland having just lost Craig Gordon for some time, they will require back up for Belgian Simon Mignolet.
With Trevor Carson to return from Leeds at the end of the season however, Mejia will have competition should he decide on a move from the French League 1 to the Premiership.
It is believed that a figure of £1.2m would be enough to tempt Fénix into selling the up and coming star and with Gordon likely to be out for at least six months manager Steve Bruce is likely to be weighing up his options for next season.
