Sunderland manager, Steve Bruce, is hopeful that he can convince Manchester City boss, Roberto Mancini, to let him take Shaun Wright-Phillips on a season-long loan.
However, the Italian is thought to be holding out for the permanent sale of Wright-Phillips as the Englishman becomes more and more distant from the first team.
Wright-Phillips’ agent Robert Lindsay says his client would be open to a move away from the Citizens, noting: “There has been an enquiry from Sunderland about Shaun,”
He added: “There is no secret that Manchester City are prepared to let him go if an offer came in and it was the right offer so I would guess it is now up to Sunderland whether to follow up that initial interest.”
The 29 year-old has also been associated with a move to the Reebok Stadium, but Bolton are thought to be put off by the player’s high wage demands.
