Horse Racing Live Streaming : Supporting Greatwood Handicap Hurdle & Gold Cup Newbury & Doncaster as Cheltenham edges closer

The Cheltenham Festival is almost here with Supporting Greatwood Handicap Hurdle & Gold Cup Newbury & Doncaster odds, as Bet365  live streaming from Saturday’s card.

The countdown Festival continues on Saturday as Channel 4’s coverage this week turns to top-class meetings at Newbury and Doncaster.

With just 10 days to go until the Prestbury Park extravaganza it is unlikely we’ll be seeing many of the big contenders this weekend, but there will be plenty of horses running on Saturday that will have one eye on one of the 11 handicaps at Cheltenham, of which the weights were released earlier in the week.

In fact, every televised race on Saturday is a handicap, and it brings forward plenty of punting opportunities.

Looking through the two meetings this weekend, there does seem to be ample opportunities to grab some decent prices about horses that could fall into the bigger than 4/1 category.

There hasn’t been a double figured price winner of the Ladbrokes Supporting Greatwood Handicap Hurdle at Newbury for the last 10 years, and the horses at the head of the market should be well supported with confidence again this year.

Progressive five-year-old Balgarry won this event last year and one that has the same profile, Tango De Juillery, looks a good bet to follow suit this year at 13/2 with Paddy Power. Venetia Williams’ young hurdler has plenty of potential was deemed good enough to run in a Grade Two at Cheltenham just two runs ago when pitched in against the high-class Grumeti.

He holds entries in the Coral Cup, Vincent O’Brien and Martin Pipe handicaps at the Festival and will need to win this off 130 to stand a chance of getting in. To our eyes he looks a tasty wager.

Remember, taking your custom to Bet365 is always the way when betting on races on Channel 4.

Back any single winner at 4/1 or more on a bet365 televised race and you can have a free bet to the same stake on the next Channel 4 race. The offer is available is open to punters of two specific races each day but it is seen at its most popular when a big meeting is being covered on Channel 4.

Another horse to keep an eye on Newbury with Cheltenham in mind is Tony Star, who runs in the StanJames Supporting Greatwood Gold Cup. Philip Hobbs’ novice holds an entry in the Byrne Group Plate amongst other engagements and could do his chances a boost with a good showing at 10/1 with William Hill.

The future focus for the runners in the William Hill Grimthorpe Chase at Doncaster is more likely to be aimed at Aintree rather than Cheltenham as the Grand National could be on the radar for a couple of these runners. Join Together, trained by Grand National winning trainer Paul Nicholls, according the Aintree feature markets is most capable of becoming a Grand National winner.

The Nicholls’ runner is a best-priced 9/2 shot with William Hill for the race at Doncaster but even this trip of 3m2f may be a bit on the short side for him. He looks to have claims in the National but may be worth swerving tomorrow.

Court By Surprise, a 13/2 shot with Bet365, won a similar contest to this in December and makes plenty of appeal whilst old stager Calgary Bay, who is also entered for Aintree, is 2-2 at Doncaster and has to go close. The one at a decent price that could run a big race though looks to be Mr Moonshine, who can be punted at 13/2 with Bet365.

The drying ground at Doncaster should be right in his favour, and his stamina, which can be questioned at times, may see him to victory this time around.
