Frankel is the horse everyone is talking about ahead of the Sussex Stakes as Ladbrokes report free bets and indicate all the money has been for Sir Henry Cecil’s jewel at 150/1 odds on.
Taking centre stage at Goodwood today, this famous horse is looking for a second successive victory at this much talked about race, and will be going for an incredible twelfth straight victory.
Looking at the race itself to begin with, it is a group 1 flat horse race open to thoroughbreds aged three years or older. Taking place on the second day at the Goodwood Festival, this race covers a distance of one mile.
As mentioned, last year’s winner was Frankel and after a stunning performance at Royal Ascot earlier this year, everyone is expecting big things once again. This includes from the man who knows more about this horse than any other – trainer Henry Cecil.
Sussex Stakes : Ladbrokes Free Bets Frankel
Glorious Goodwood continues today as Ladbrokes announce a free bets offer worth £50/€50 to pick up to spend on any race or any Olympic event! That includes Frankel or Usain Bolt! There’s plenty to choose from – Claim here!
Cecil – who is not able to attend this week due to illness – is extremely positive of a successful Sussex Stakes, saying that preparation since Ascot has gone exactly according to plan.
He said: “Everything has gone as we could have wished with Frankel since the Queen Anne Stakes. We gave him an easy time immediately after Royal Ascot before bringing him back into fast work.”
“He has pleased us with his work and is going to the Sussex Stakes in good shape. We are taking one race at a time with him and are hoping that he can extend his unbeaten record.”
Everything therefore points to a Frankel win and you can back this horse at around 1/20 with most bookies. It is a foregone conclusion according to most.
However, if anyone is to challenge, it is likely to come in the form of Farhh who can be backed at 12/1. A decent year so far, the four-year-old came third in the Prince’s Wales Stakes and second in the Coral Eclipse.
Now, he will be looking to go better and create history by beating Frankel who has never lost in his career to date. Beyond Farhh, Gabrial is being mentioned at 50/1, while Bullet Train is even further adrift at 100/1.
Therefore, it seems to be only Farhh that can realistically challenge the overwhelming favourite Frankel. This race gets underway on Wednesday afternoon.
