Swansea City skipper signs contract extension

Swansea full-back and captain, Garry Monk, has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club for another three years.

In his seven years as a Swan since joining from Barnsley in 2004, Monk has made over 230 appearances for the Premier League side, and will go on to celebrate a decade at the club, under his new contract.

Speaking to the Swansea City official website, Monk commented: “It’s a big thing for me to sign a contract that will take me up to my tenth year.”

He added: “I’ve loved every minute of it. From the first day I walked in here under Kenny (Jackett), I’ve seen the massive progression made as players and as a club.”

The Welsh side open their first Premier League season against Manchester City next Monday.
