Swansea See Out Stalemate

Newly promoted Swansea City got their Premier League points running on Saturday and boss Brendan Rogers admits he is delighted with their 0-0 draw at home to Wigan, earning the club their first ever Premier League point.

Wigan went close to crashing on Swansea’s party when they were awarded a second-half penalty, however Swans new keeper Michel Vorm saved the day with a superb save from Ben Watson’s spot kick.

Rodgers praised his side’s attitude, as they were able to bounce back from an upsetting 4-0 defeat against Manchester City in their opening game. He also revealed he was pleased that the team were able to stick to their normal passing principles whilst battling to save a point against Roberto Martinez’s side.

Rodgers said: “I thought the performance was excellent.
“To come off the back of the Manchester City game, we had a great amount of belief that we could continue with our style of play in this league.
“The way we passed the ball was exceptional at times and not only that but also our imagination and creativity in the final third. We were just lacking that finishing touch to get a goal.
