Watford head to Nottingham Forest in what looks to be one of the pick of the fixtures on Saturday. The Hornets can move up to fourth with a win as the teams above them are not in action. It is the chance for the London club to really show what they are capable of this campaign.
It will not be easy to go to the City Ground and pick up all three points though, especially as Forest have found a bit of form recently.
Alex McLeish’s men have the chance to move up to seventh here and to within just two points of their opponents, so the incentive is certainly there.
Burnley have been on a great run in the league and won their last three matches, which has seen them climb up the table to eighth. They host Birmingham City this weekend, who are now without a victory in four matches and looking like relegation candidates.
All the sings point towards a home win here, but as we know, nothing is ever that simple in the Championship.
If the home side are at their best here though, then they should be celebrating another excellent three points.
Ipswich Town are now six points clear of the bottom three, but Mick McCarthy knows they have to keep picking up results.
Town head to Bristol City on Saturday, who currently sit bottom of the table and look to be in real trouble. If the Robins are to get out of trouble this season, then it is matches like this one that they simply have to be winning.
The hosts have lost their last three though, so it is tough to see where that all important win is coming from.
Both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Blackpool have struggled to pick up points over recent weeks and they meet at Molineux this weekend.
Wolves are without a win in five, whereas Blackpool are on a six-game winless streak, so this could be a fairly nervy 90 minutes of action. They each have the quality to move up the table, but know results have to improve or they could be in a relegation battle this campaign.
Finally, in-form Charlton Athletic host Sheffield Wednesday and the home team could move up to seventh if they win this one.
Chris Powell will be delighted with the way his men have played in recent weeks, but knows Wednesday won’t be easy to beat as have a chance to move six points clear of the bottom three.
It should make for a cracking game at The Valley with both sides looking for a result, albeit for very different reasons.
It might not be the busiest day of action in the Championship, but it could be a significant one with big games in terms of the play-off race and the relegation battle.
