The one day international cricket series continues with Betvictor releasing the latest odds on India v England third ODI as the firm make Alistair Cook’s side the slight underdogs at a value looking 11/8.
Following India’s series-levelling win in the second one-day-international, the stakes couldn’t be higher for the all-important third match against England in Ranchi.
England beat the hosts by nine runs in the first match but were totally outclassed in Kochi earlier in the week, losing out by 127-runs to draw the series level at 1-1.
It was a crushing defeat for Alastair Cook’s men as their batting line-up floundered against the brilliance of the Indian spinners.

That margin of defeat certainly suggests that India will have plenty of confidence going into the third match, and the win odds reflect this. The home side have been well supported from hard hitting section of the punting family and can be backed at 8/13 with Bet365. England, meanwhile, have attracted some attention from areas of the punting world and are available to be punted at 13/10 with Betvictor.
But even the most hardened England followers will be well aware that they have an uphill task to try and derail a rampant India side that pummelled them in the last game. India had made a steady total of 285 in their innings with MS Dhoni’s 72 and Ravindra Jadeja’s 61 not out getting the hosts out of trouble after a start which saw them struggling on 18-2.
However, England’s batting, which had been so strong in the opening match, failed to match those efforts in their response, falling to a dismal 158 all out. Kevin Pietersen topped scored with 42 as the Indian bowlers took command; Ravichandran Ashwin and Praveen Kumar taking three wickets each.
India now looked to have found the one thing that could have been missing from their game – confidence.
The markets are expecting the Indian batsmen to build on their impressive showing in Kochi, and a whole host of players have been backed to make a big score.
Perhaps the most surprising player to be involved in these types of gambles is the Virat Kohli, who has been well out of form for the last few months. Ladbrokes have seen a plunge of money for the Indian opener to hit more than +3.5 boundaries at 8/11 as he looks to be coming back into some form judging by his flashy 37 he made in the last match.
Dhoni’s 72 in the previous innings was a thing of beauty and punters are latching onto the chance that he could produce similar fireworks again.
Both Bet365 and Ladbrokes have reported good money seen on the Dhoni bandwagon and he is a decent looking 5/1 shot with Ladbrokes to be India’s top-scorer for this international. Additionally, a market which has seen plenty of action from run scoring followers is the whether there will be a century market. Punters are obviously expecting the pitch to produce plenty of runs as the Yes for a century to be scored has been well punted-on at 11/8 with Ladbrokes.
Unsurprisingly, England’s best hope of taking a 2-1 lead lies with their batsmen.
The top-order seem to have finally adapted to the flat wickets in India and have been swinging with real venom in the last six meeting with the Indians. And although they seemed to go off the boil a little, faith still remains with the top order to give England a chance of victory.
Pietersen looks to be well at ease at his game at the moment and has been popular to top score at 7/2 with Bet365. He made 42 last time out and looks capable of more if finding the right partnership. Cook obviously will be popular in this market at 100/30 but did look a little jaded in the previous game and looks terrible value at the current prices.
