West Ham centre-back, James Tomkins, is looking to gain Championship promotion at the first opportunity, after the team were relegated last campaign.
Tomkins revealed that he still feels the pain of relegation, but that the East London club must use that experience as a motivation to return to the top flight.
Speaking to London24, Tomkins said: “Realising that we are in the Championship this year really hurts, it hurts me as much as it hurts anyone else. But we are looking to bounce straight back up now and relegation is something in the past.”
The 22 year-old defender is also confident in new manager, Sam Allardyce, adding: “We are under a new manager now and hopefully we can start on a new era and we can go on from here and get straight back up.”
