Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal are set to go head to head for Shakhtar Donetsk’s attacking midfielder Douglas Costa with all three clubs ready to table bids around the £10m mark.
The 20 year old raised eyebrows last season during the Ukrainian’s Champions League campaign and although the side only purchased the Brazilian at the beginning of the 2010 season, the club are willing to listen to offers that would almost double their investment of €6m twelve months ago.
Arsenal and Tottenham are still on the look out for a reasonably price youngster who is attack minded and at £10m would fall into both clubs’ categories whilst Chelsea, who are not yet sure on landing Arda Turan or Luka Modric, and have missed out on Javier Pastore, are keen to add young talent this summer.
With Arsenal and Tottenham still in the hunt for Valencia’s Juan Mata, Costa whilst more of a central player could be considered as suitable alternative to the now seemingly heavily priced Spaniard and enquiries for Costa are expected to turn into serious bids over the next week.
