Tottenham appear as favourites to land elite sensation

In a somewhat shock turn of events, French media are reporting that Eden Hazard is very much open to a move to Tottenham Hotspur with a summer move emerging as a possibility.

The transfer would mean Spurs beating off competition from Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal in a coup that would certainly improve the club’s chances of winning the Premier League in the near future.

Hazard has been on the radar of many European outfits for the past three years and has stated in the past that he could see himself moving to England.

Chelsea were hoping to increase their interest in Hazard as part of a raid on Belgium’s young talent with Thibault Courtois and Kevin de Bruyne already joining the Blues’ cause.

However, that move now looks unlikely with the winger reportedly announcing that Spurs could be a preferred destination.

Speaking to RTBF, Hazard stated: “Maybe I’ll go to Tottenham. It’s a great English club. I said I would go to England”.

The Belgian international is contracted to Lille until next summer but isn’t expected to sign a contract extension with the side.

Hazard’s current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2013 and in order to command their full £35m estimation of the star, the Ligue 1 title holders are expected to sell this summer.

Spurs are expected to have funds made available to them at the end of the season, however the stay of Harry Redknapp – who is continually being linked with the vacant England managerial role – could make or break the deal.
