Internacional vice-president Luciano Davi insists Tottenham Hotspur have not approached the club with a fresh offer for Leandro Damiao.
Spurs had a previous bid for the Brazil international turned down but new boss Andre Villas-Boas still holds a strong interest in the forward following his 35 goal haul last season.
A permanent move for Emmanuel Adebayor has stalled with reports suggesting he is demanding a cut of the transfer fee from Manchester City after agreeing to reduce his £175,000-a-week wage demands in order to force through a move.
With Jermaine Defoe the only senior striker at the club and youngster Harry Kane providing back up it’s no surprise that Damiao has again been linked with a switch to North London.
Villas-Boas is likely to incorporate his favoured 4-3-3 formation at White Hart Lane next term and believes the 23-year-old has the necessary physical and technical attributes to spearhead his attack.
However Davi has dismissed speculation that their star striker is heading for the Premier League revealing that he’s already turned down offers from other clubs and hopes he can bring back a gold medal whilst on Olympic duty with his country.
“There was no offer from Tottenham, but there were other offers that he rejected,” Davi told Terra.
“Let’s wait for his return, with the gold medal, to decide what we will do. He is an Internacional player, but we are ready for what may happen.
“There will be offers for Leandro Damiao, no doubt about that. He has already rejected offers in the last few years.
“Oscar, for example, only left because there was no way we could keep him.
“I hope they get the gold medal. Leandro Damiao, Oscar, Juan and Pato deserve it. May Leandro Damiao win the gold and return to help us.
“I’ll think about him when he gets back.”
