Jermain Defoe says he is expecting there to be more transfer talks regarding Luka Modric in January, and that a move could still go ahead.
The midfielder was subject of three bids from Chelsea over the summer but Spurs managed to hold onto their star and are currently trying to tempt the Croatian playmaker into signing a new contract.
Despite holding on to their playmaker, Defoe believes his teammate could still leave, saying: “There’s always speculation – it’s part and parcel of the game – and it will start again in January. We just wanted the window to close, and he’s here now and that’s that.”
The striker added: “But Luka’s a good professional and, if you didn’t know there was speculation about him going and you saw him about the place, you’d never know.”
