Tottenham Hotspur are finding it increasingly difficult in trying land Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra and may look to target West Ham United’s Scott Parker as an alternative.
Real Madrid had recently decreased their asking price for the former Arsenal midfielder and whilst Tottenham still feel it to be a little high for the 26 year old, it is a mixture of the fee and the players wages that are causing an issue. With only Europa League football this season and Spurs believed to be only entering a second team for the competition at best, the White Hart Lane side feel Diarra’s weekly wage plus that of the hefty transfer fee could mean them having to sell at least one of their first team players, something manager Harry Redknapp is unlikely to do.
Should Real Madrid not decrease their fee further Tottenham will look to make a £8m offer for West Ham’s Scott Parker who is looking for a move back to the Premiership but to remain in London. West Ham manager Sam Allardyce meanwhile would prefer to keep hold of Parker rather than allow him to depart on loan unless an offer close to £10m is made.
