Harry Redknapp’s Tottenham Hotspur are looking at a shock move to his old East London club West Ham United for goal poacher Demba Ba.
The striker almost carried West Ham to safety last season scoring seven goals in just 12 appearances and sources suggest Redknapp is keen to land the Senegalese international as he looks for more goals during the next campaign.
Tottenham’s current crop of forwards were not particularly on top form last season and without the likes of van der Vaart or Modric, the North London side could well have been looking at a top ten finish rather than top five. Whilst sources claim Spurs will bid for the 26 year old there is no news on who he might replace at the club although Crouch has been linked with a move to Sunderland and Jermain Defoe to North London rivals Arsenal.
Ba’s performances for West Ham during the last third of the season have raised eyebrows and the Spurs board believe Ba could be the man to grab twenty goals for them next season as they look to qualify for the Champions League again by claiming a top four finish.
Prior to West Ham, Ba was rather prolific in Germany’s Bundesliga, scoring an incredible 37 goals in just under 100 appearances for Hoffenheim and whilst he has not been tested in a full Premiership season, it is believed that the Tottenham Hotspur manager has seen enough to make a transfer bid of around £9m for the goal scorer.
Spurs will face competition for Ba though with the likes of Sunderland also keen on him however sources suggest the forward would prefer to remain in London. Spurs also have the advantage of offering Europa League football to the striker.
